STOLEN MAIL BAGS

SYDNEY, October 27. (Received October 28, at 1.30 a.m.) Officials in commenting on the pillage of Australian mail bags, state that they have had no reports of thefts in Bntain, across Franco* or aboard ship. They hint that the pillago must have occurred between Fremantle and Sydney.—A. and N.Z. Cable. [A message received on October 24 stated: On the arrival of the steamer Cathay it was found that some registered mail had been stolen. It is believed that the thieves made a pod haul. The Postal Department considers that the robbery was committed by experts. The postal officials have yet to ascertain whether the robbedy was committed aboard tho liner or before the mails were shipped at Marseilles. It is reported that the Now Zealand mail was part of that stolen.}
