% RECOMMENDATIONS ADOPTED
Press Association—By Telegraph-Copyright,
LONDON, October 27,
(Received-. October 28, at 1.30 a.m.) The Agricultural Conference resulted in finalising many, of tho committee’s reports on sub-tropical research. The committee reported that tho Commonwealth was spending £50,000 on a research station in North Queensland, tho annual expenditure of £IO,OOO being shared equally by tho Marketing Board and the Commonwealth. It suggested that the station should act as the centre of research for tho animal industry, nutrition, and tropics pasture problems. Tho report was adopted. The Information Committee recommended serial bureaux and correspondence centres, costing £20,000 annually, subject to supervision by a body representing Canada, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, India, the Free State, and Britain. Sir Daniel Hall (Chief Scientific Adviser to tho Ministry of Agriculture) objected to the allocation of money for ’ bureaux. He said it would bo hotter devoted to research.
Mr Julius vigorously defended the recommendation, and said that it was essential and contributory to research. Mr Grisdale (Canada) said that, unless bureaux were established, it was doubtful if Canada could co-operate. The' conference adopted the report.
