EMPIRE THEATRE ATTRACTIONS
MiSS NEW ZEALAND AND ‘ THE UNDERSTANDING HEART •
Commencing on Friday next, at tlio Umpire Theatre, is an attractive programme. Tlic chief feature will be the personal appearance of Miss .New Zealand. 1927, who will give the same sketches that she gave in Auckland with such success. As Miss Austen is leaving for Hollywood shortly, she cannot appear for a long season, and this will ho her linal appearance before going abroad to fulfil her screen contract in America. The second attraction will ho the screen version ol Peter B. Kyne’s famous novel. ‘The Understanding Heart.’ with Francis X. Bushman and Joan Crawford in the loading roles. The story is fragrant with the. scent of the American timber lands, and glows with the strength of the out-of-doors. Laughter and romance are happily interwoven with the lives of the forest-dwellers, and thrills sufficient to keep the interest maintained have been included. Tbe story centres about a forest ranger and works up to a, gripping climax in the blazing inferno of a forest fire. In addition 1.0 the two stars, the cast includes BnckliiTc Feliowes. Carmel Mvers, Bichard Carle, and Harvey Clark.
