OCTAGON

Based on the humorous aspect of tlio American Civil War and with Busier Keaton as the star, ‘The General,’ which is being screened at the Octagon Theatre represents the last word in elaborate comedies. The story deals with the feat of a band of Northerners who stole a train and raided Confederate territory daring the early part of the Civil War. They tore np trade, destroyed telegraphic communication, and would have disrupted the South’s military plans bad it not been for a voting Confederate locomotive engineer who chased them single-handed and finally caused their capture. The very atmosphere of the auto racers lias been captured in ‘bast and Furious,’ the Reginald Denny picture which is being screened at the Empire Theatre. In order that tlio picture should bo more realistic, somo of America’s foremost motor racers were engaged, and they spent several week's at California race trades, where expensive, high-powered cars were used in the thrilling race sequences in which Denny himself participated. When the popular star is driving anything, he it aeroplane, motor car, or speed boat, at anything more than ordinary pace, lie is completely in his element.
