*•*'■' ARREST A KINDNESS REMANDED TO BE FED UP [Special to tee ; Stab.’J WANGANUI, July 25. “Too weak to work,” was the description given of two men, slightly over thirty years of age, who had been arrested for vagrancy late last evening, being found sleeping in an empty house on Duno Hill. As far as condition was concerned, they were as “poor as crows,” and when brought to the station they completely cleaned up the larder of the single constables at the bach. ' They had wandered from Taihape to Palliation in quest of work, and thence to Wanganui, and the aggregate cash between them was one halfpenny. On the recommendation of Sergeant Sivycr they were remanded for a week to get nourishing food at the gaol, the sergeant intimating that it was no good letting them out, for no one would employ them in their present state of weakness.
