REPERTORY PLAYERS TONIGHT

The Repertory Players commence a short season to-night at Hie Majesty’s Theatre with two plays of outstanding merit, and are already assured of two big houses if the. box- plan is an indication. The stellar attraction is the romantic historical drama in two acts; ‘Gruach,’ around which there is an air of mystery and allure, an atmosphere of things long forgotten. ‘ Gruach ’ is Shakespearean in dialogue, ■ and was written by England’s prose poet, Gordon Bottomlcy, now in -the height of fame. The cast of characters f r this delightful piece will bo headed by Bessie Thompson, which is a guarantee of its artistic excellence. Mrs Wakc-field-Holmes is to appear 'as Morag (the Lady of Fortingal). Her 'son, Conan (Thano of Fortingal), is in tho capable .hands of H. W, Hunter, while A. R. Gardner is in a congenial role as Dominal (a steward). Mrs F. Gair is to appear as Fern, daughter of Morag, and Miss Sheila Noilson. is the Margot of an excellent cast. ‘ ’Op-o-mc-thumb.’ which is tho associate play, is really a delightful cameo of the Loudon slums, brimming over with the purest comedy, yet withal humorous to a degree. Madge Yates plays the principal role. Mrs Fraijc Lampen is Roso Jordon, one of the workers in Madame Didier’s laundry (where the scene is laid). Mrs A. R. Gard’ner will be seen in a character study. Miss Anita Winkel is the French proprietress of the laundry (Madame Didicr). Arthur Gard’ner has another of those excellent comedy roles in that of ’Grace Greensraith, while the remaining characters of Celeste will he played by Miss Thorn Vivian. The doors, will ho open to-night, at 7 o’cock. and an efficient orchestra under the baton of Mrs W. Haggitt and led by Mr J. A. Wallace. L.R.A.M., will render the musiu incidental to the plays.
