THE ANNUAL MEETING [I er United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, July 21. The New Zealand Friesian Association held its annual meeting to-day. Dairy control having now been thrown overboard, said the president (Mr E. A. Gill), ho was of the opinion that prices for dairy stock would improve. in the past lie was convinced that many of them bad inflated ideas of values’ of pedigree cattle, and this was in no small measure due to the high prices paid for export. With the largo proportion of breeders in the northern part of the island Wellington was no longer a suitable place for tho head office. By a change to Auckland they had been able to retain the services of their efficient secretary (Mr Kallaghcr). It was hoped that legislation would eventually he passed which would eliminate scrub bulls from dairy herds and achieve the compulsory substitution of pure-bred sires from tested and proven dams. Dealing with income ami expenditure. he said that as the result of the year’s working as compared with 1926, When £B6O 6s 9d had been shown as a‘ profit, this vear £ 1 '•>l 4s 9d was the net result. All breeders were strongly recommended to get at least three copies of the photograph of each of their registered Friesians—one copy for the entry form, one for their private‘herd register, and one cop? to he availanle if required for a transfer form. Breeders were recommended to send in to the secretary of the association photographs of all the registered Friesian* in their herds. The secretary would compare these photographs with the photographs on the original registration forms, and ha would send breeders a statement certifying to the identity of the animals. The following officers were elected President, Mr H. J. Marchant; vicepresidents, Messrs E, M. North and 11. A. Lawson; council—Messrs H E. Johnston, E. M. North, D. J. M'Gowan, W B. A. Gill, R. A. Milson, J. M'Anulty, T. Fades, E. O. Banks, and J. Hart; hon. treasurer, Mr J. I. Royds; auditor. Mr G. D. Sutton.
