(Received July 21, at 10.30 a.m.) A shooting affray in a boarding house at South Yarra resulted in the death of Mabel James, twenty-two years of age (a waitress) and of Ranald f Loot, aged twenty-five. It is believed that the shooiing was done by Lect, jealousy being the cause, as he was a former lover of Miss James. They had recently quarrelled. Mrs Wood, who rushed to the scene, was wounded, and sent to hospital in a serious condition.
