_■* FOUR LIVES LOST STAGING OF SPECIAL “STENTS.” LOS ANGELES, July 1. Ethel Hall, a moving picture actress, lost her life daring the staging of a scene at Merced, California, yesterday. She was supposed to be abandoned by the villain and rescued by Tom Mix, but she was swept into rapids and dashed against a boulder. A message from Cordova (Alaska) states that while staging a. boat scene for a moving picture of the gold rush davs of thirty year, ago in a. canyon on" the Copper River, fifty miles from Cordova, three “stunt” actors were drowned and five had a narrow escape. All were employees of the Metro-Gold-wyn-Maycr Company.
