The final screening of ‘Children of Divorce ’ will take place at the Octagon Theatre to-night. The story deals with two girls loft to themselves liecause their parents have divorced. Grown to womanhood, one finds that she must marry a certain rich man. and the other is in love with the same man. He is inveigled into a, marriage with the former, and his lover finally decides to console herself by a marriage with a nobleman. However, the wife realises the mistake she lias made, and offers a solution in divorce. This, however, is vetoed because of their own bitter experience. However, it is all cleared up in a .sensational manner. ‘ THE BLACK I’IRATE.’ In ‘The Black Birate.’ which comes to the Octagon Then ire. to-morrow, Douglas Fairbanks is said to have exceeded his previous efforts in the production of lavish and ambitious pictures. The entire picture has been filmed in a remarkable new color process known as technicolor that reproduces with exactitude every tint, shade, and hue of Nature itself. Unlike many other color attempts, technicolor is entirely natural, minus all exaggeration, and restful to the eyes. The story opens with a burly pirate tearing the rings from the fingers of his captives. A young boy who has been captured offers to join the crew with the secret intention of avenging the death of Ids father, who was killed by the pirate. In order to prove himself the hoy says that lie will capture a, ship singlehanded. In this be is successful. Ho joins the hand .and is named “'the Black Pirate.” Among the passengers of the captured ship was a beautiful girl, for whom the pirates drew lots. As the boat leaves for the ransom ho smuggles a note aboard summoning' aid, but his plans are frustrated by the second male. Through the agency of a friend, however, lie is able to slip his bonds and escape by swimming to the mainland. He returns with, a ship and men, captures the pirate vessel, and saves the girl. The cast supporting Fairbanks is a notable one. The leading lady is the lovely Billie Dove. Numbers of bloodthirsty pirates appear during the action, and the leaders are supported by such actors as Donald Crisp, Sam De (Basse, Anders Randolf, Charles Stevens, Fi. ,1. Ratelilfc, Charles Belcher, Roy. Coulson, and John Wallace. ‘The Black Pirate’ was directed by Albert Parker, who- has served in a. similar, capacity with several other Fairbanks pictures. Dwight Franklin, the noted artist, whose specialty is the depicting of pirate life, acted as consultant during the filming of the production. Fairbanks himself has devised, arranged, and staged an elaborate prologue that will introduce the picture.
