BURNSIDE STOCK SALES

SHEEP PRICES IT. As the sale For fat sheep progressed at the Burnside stork sales today the prices advanced fully 3s per head on last week's rates. The prices for lambs were not quite so good as the previous sale, and there was every prospect or a fair sale for fat cattle, although the demand opened a lew shillings cheaper than last week. The prices quoted for some of the stock were being realised before going to press. Fat Cattle.—A yarding of 2-15. There was a proportion ot prime bullocks, heifers, and rows, considerably better than the quality displayed last week. Extra choice beef and a number of ordinary cattle were yarded. Prices: Prime bullocks, £ls 12s to £l7 2s 6cl; medium , £lO tc- £l2; light, £8 to £9 15s; best heifers, £7 10s to £lO 3s; cows, £0 10s to £8 ss. Fat Sheep.—A small penning of approximately 1,500. The entry consisted principally of medium ewes and wethers, with a small proportion of prime heavy-weights. The sale opened at a slight depreciation on last week’s rates, and improved noticeably as tho sale progressed, finishing strongly under animated competition at fully 3s above the opening prices. Prices: Extra prime heavy wethers, to 54s Del; primes, 42s to 465; medium, 32s to 365; light from 245; extra prime heavy ewes realised up to 42s Cd; prime, 33s ro 375; medium, 27s to 2ds; light Irom 235.

Lambs. —A small entry of 671. Then was notliing outstanding in this section as to quality. A small portion of the yarding was unfinished. Competition was not animated, and trm prices were barmy as good as those obtaining last week. Prices; Prime lambs, 37a to 28s (k'l; medium. 22s 6d to 255; unfinished from 18s. Store Cattle.—A yarding of 140. This was comprised chielly of fair-condi-tioned cows and heifers and soma three- ;. ear-old steers, flic last named wore passed at auction, with tho exception of one. which realised £8 ss. The demand was slow but cows wore firm. Pigs.—A pennhm of 113 fats and a medium number of stores Porkers made last week’s sale rates, and the baconers were a few shillings cheaper.
