DEPARTMENT TO ESTABLISH SETTLEMENT EIGHTY HOUSES TO BE BUILT £P«b United Press Association.} WELLINGTON, June 21. Negotiations havo been finalised by the Railway Department for tbe purchase of about twenty acres of land seven minutes from Ngaio railway station for the purpose of establishing a settlement for railway workers. An immediate start is to be made upon its development on town planning lines, providing about TOO sections of approximately one-sixth of an acre. About eighty houses are to be built by the department for letting to railway employees on the basis of one day’s pay weekly. It is understood that the purchase price of the property was about £IO,OOO.
