MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Otafl Education Board, commenced to<iay, was attended by Messrs J. \\ '(chairman), P. M'Kinlay, K. H. J Mitchell, L. Sanderson, J. Moth, M P., J. Smith, J. H. Wilkinson, and the Hon. D. T. Fleming. . An application from the Kensington Committee for a new warehouse for tho janitor’s residence was granted. It was decided to make an application'to the department for a grant for furniture for an office for the infant mistress at Albany Street Associated School. . . . , The architect vras siren authority tft repair the lonce round the janitor i residence at Fnrhnry School, - the damage being caused by the recent p’alc. D The Musselburgh Committee wrote thanking tho board for improvement* to tho infant room at the school, and stating that a school fair was being arranged with the object of raising sufficient funds to complete tho asphalting of tho grounds.—Members expressed satisfaction at the activity of the committee. • . ■ , _ . . , In. respect to the election of Technical school managers, tho hoard fixed Sep* tember as the month of election, suegested September 13 as_ the date of tn« election of represutativc of parents, and September 14 as the date of election of School Committee representative. ~ ■ , ~ The Howard League tor Penal Ee* form forwarded suggested proposals for greatly improving the present school system. As some difficulty • would be experienced in meeting tho increased outlay required for such a scheme, >.t asked that the Education Department; bo urged to enlist the help of voluntary organisations, and to this end appoint an advisory committee.—-It was decided to forward the suggestions .to the Education Department without comment.
