APPRENTICESHIP BIOTA [Per United Press Association,] WELLINGTON, March 29. The following remits were passed today by the New Zealand Master Builders’ Conference:— “That architects and engineers be asked to specify rimu or other New Zealand timber for purposes where it is suitable, particularly in instances where Oregon is now being specified and used.” “ That representations be made to the Government urging the prompt return of deposits made with tenders immediately the bond in connection' with a contract has been executed.” “ That steps be taken to ensure that denosits on all contracts bear interest at the bank rate for the period during which such deposits are retained.” “ That the federation take steps to secure exemptions of payment of wages to apprentices while attending military carans.”
“That the federation • take steps to secur.e more freedom of action for master builders in the way of allowing an apprentice to one trade to take part in another trade or kindred department subject to the supervision of the Apprenticeship Committee.” “ That all local associations make special efforts to ensure that every builder takes on his full quota of apprentices.” 5
