SETTLEMENT EFFORTS THE MINERS CONFIDENT. Press Asscciation—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, March 30. (Received March 30, at 11.15 a.ra.) A conference of representatives of the coal owners and the employees engaged in the coal mining industry has been called for to-day to discuss the dispute on the Maitland field. At the conference of delegates from the various miners’ organisations proposals were agreed to as a basis of settlement. These will be submitted to to-day’s conference, which will be presided* over by the Acting Minister of Mines (Mr C. C. Lazzarini). The miners are sanguine that a settlement will be reached.
