FORTUNES IN FLAX

One of tho oldest industries in the dominion is the industry of flax-milling. Right through the business it has been based on millers dealing with the phormium tenax found growing in its natural, uncultivated, unassisted state in the swamp areas of the dominion. It is only within recent years that the value of growing and cultivating the plant on a commercial scale has been brought to the fore. Tho flax plant is admittedly the world’s most prolific and valuable fibre plant, giving a greater return per acre than any other fibre known. Unlike other members of the family, it is not an annual planted shrub, as once planted and properly cultivated it will continue to produce indefinitely. By the new methods of cutting three crops can bo obtained in two years. Based on the average selling price of £3O 11s per ton for manufactured fibre during the last seven years, this will give a gross return por acre per annum of £I7G 2s 9d, and shareholders can expect a very large return on capital. New Zealand hemp makes the best binder twine in tho world, and overseas markets will eagerly snap up every pound we can produce. We are at present unable to supply many large orders, simply because we do not produce sufficient.

There is no better or sounder investment before the public than that now offered in our .prospectus. This company docs not offer a speculation or a gamble. It provides an avenue for the investment of capital in a sound business under capable and experienced management. Taken on a conservative basis of calculation on actually realised figures, the shareholders’ capital will average 30 per cent, over a period of nine years, and thereafter will average over 60 per cent.
