During a brilliant ball under ibc patronage of Madame Pilsudski a guest missed a valuable diamond bracelet. The police traced a departing luxurious motor car to a house in the suburbs. They were preparing to rush in, pistols in hand, in expectation of encountering a nest of bandits, when they noticed an inscription, “Society to Aid Warsaw’s Poor. ’ Inside they found two wealthy young manufacturers, Oldayinski and Bilrowski, sitting smoking in evening dress. They admitted sixteen similar thefts hy which philanthropic institutions unwittingly benefited. Both wore arrested and certified to be insane.— Sydney ‘ Sun ’ Cable.
