The Hon. W. Downie Stewart, Acting Prime Minister, and Mr L. B. Beale, British Trade Commissioner, will bo present at- the Otago A. and P. Show on Thursday, People’s Day. The Timaru Borough Council unanimously re-elected as mayor Mr G. J. Wallace, who designed on Monday last at the suggestion of the Audit Department. A Press Association cablegram from London states that Mr F. W. Furkcrt (Engmeer-in-Chief, Public Works) left on Wednesday for New Zealand. En route he will inspect the large public works in France, Egypt, and Java, and will call at Port Darwin and Thursday Island.
