SUBSIDY TO OPERA COMPANY SUGGESTED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, November 18. (Received November 19, at 9 a.m.) In view of the recent controversy concerning the effect of broadensvng upon the concert world, interest is added to the announcement that the new Broadcasting Corporation will consider a proposal to subsidise the British National Opera Company, which in return will agree to broadcast weekly excerpts from grand opera. An opera official states that the company will be unable to exist without a subsidy.—Sydney ‘ Sun ' Cable.
