LOW-NECKED BLOUSES
HYGIENIC AND HEALTHY MEK OVER-CODDLED abolition of collars ADVOCATED. Pre« Association—By Telegraph— CopyrightLONDON, November 18. (Received November 19, at 9.25 a.jn.) “ Blouses are all nonsense. A girl never caught any complaint through wealing low-necked clothing,” said Professor Leonard Hill, lecturing at the Institute of Hygiene. “ Low necks harden and help girls to resist disease. Short skirts and silk stockings are also beneficial, especially artificial silk, which will allow the ultra-violet rays to penetrate the skin, resulting in sun burning. Women’s success in swimming the Channel is partly attributable to their training to endure cold more than men, who are over ooddled. Men should discard collars and adopt open necks, knickerbockers or running shorts. The Prince of Wales could start the fashion by appearing in an open-necked shirt.”
Editor: “That’s a timely joke.” Aspirin: “Yes?” Editor: “It would nave been great fifty years ago.”
