SCHOOLBOY DROWNED. Robert Oswald Blake, aged fifteen, a son of Mr J A. Waiuku, was drowned at Ocean Beach, near Waiuku, yesterday. Three secondary school boys, who were supposed to be at school, went to the beach instead. While bathing, Blake, who was unable to swim, got into difficulties. The efforts of his companions to rescue him alive failed, but eventually the body was recovered.—Pukckoho Press Association message. KNOCKED DOWN BY MOTOR. Harold Marshall, aged about forty years, who lives in Calder avenue, North-east Valley, was admitted to the hospital at 4.20 p.m. yesterday suffering from injuries to his head, caused through his being knocked down by a motor in the vicinity of the Queen’s Gardens. His injuries are not severe, and he is improving steadily. A FRACTURED LEG. Frederick Swayne, a motor cyclist, suffered a badly-fractured leg and severe injuries in a collision with a car at Hamilton last night.—Press Association telegram.
