D. 1.0. ANNUAL MEETING

YEAR'S OPERATIONS SATISFACTORY About thirty shareholders of the Drapery and General Importing Company attended the annual meeting in the Somerset Lounge of the Savoy yesterday afternoon, Mr E. 1. Halsted moved the adoption of the report and balance-sheet in the address published in last night’s issue. Mr D. H .Rogers seconded the molion, which was carried. The retiring directors (Messrs TV. Eels and 11. E. Hart) were rc-eleetcd without opposition on the motion, of Captain Sundstrum, who said the company was very fortunate in having such men on the directorate. The auditors wore reappointed as fol-lows-Messrs Win. Brown and Co. (Dunedin), Air J. TV. K. Lawrence (Christchurch), Mr E. It.- Dymock (Wellington), and Air T. Ballingail (Wanganui). Captain Snndstrum moved a hearty vote of thanks to the directors and stall for their services during the year. Ho was sure he voiced the opinion of everyone present when lie stated that the result of the year’s operations was very gratifying. They could not expect such a result without the hearty assistance of everyone in the company’s service. The motion was curried by acclamation. Jn returning thanks on behalf of the directors, the Chairman stated that ho had had an opportunity of seeing a great deal of the London staff, and ho could assure the shareholders lhat na members of the staff were more hard working than the buyers at Home, and none had the interests of the company more at heart. He did not think they could have a finer set of buyers than they possessed. They had a splendid staff right through the branches, and the company owed a great deal to them for the results attained. Air G. Crow returned thanki on behalf of the managers md t-taffs. Alembert of the staff were keenly interested in the welfare of the fompany, and lie nos sure they were ns much delighted ns the shareholders were with the successful result of the year’s operations.
