(From Ops Own Reporter.] CHRISTCHURCH, September 11. The weather is line for the English Trophy Soccer match, Otago v. Canterbury, and English Park is in good order. The Otago team put in an hour yesterday at general field work, and shaped well. Unfortunately M'Comack had his ankle injured, and it is possible that he will not play today, in which case Munsie will replace him. The Canterbury team will not he the same as originally selected, Trotter, Howartli, Wales, and Pickering not playing. They are replaced by young players of speed and keenness, but the forward line lacks an experienced leader. The Otago men are confident. AMATEUR BILLIARDS. E. V. ROBERTS WINS. [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 11. The final of the New Zealand amateur billiards championship resulted in victor}’ for B. V. Roberts, who was 1.001 and in play w-hon the game was resumed. He won by 622 points, making breaks of 03, 26, 26, 23, 5/, i*, 76, and 30—his average for the session being over 16, and for the whole game 14.25. Valentine’s best runs were 23, 23. 2!, 21. . A TEN SHILLING “TOTE.” [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 11. A requisition signed by 261 members of the club asking for the installation ol a ten shilling tote in the saddling paddock was presented to the Auckland Racing Club. Of 271 members to whom the requisition, was presented only ten refused to sign. The others, who reside in country districts, were not approached.
