TRAMWAY METHODS.
TO TUB KUITOU. Sir, —Some time ago I noticed that a councillor brought up work that he thought required to be done. He was met with a rebuff from another councillor, who said the work had not been asked for, and it was time enough to bring forward matters when they were asked for. Now lot us make a justifiable complaint and see what redress we get. Some time ago, having to go up High street a short distance, 1 took the car, asked the motorman to stop, and was told that that particular car only stopped at Macnee street, the street this side of the terminus. Having neither the time nor the inclination to go to Moruington I stepped off and came a cropper, with nothing more serious than taking some of the bark off my knees, which took some weeks to heal. I was caught again the other day on the same car, but this time I did not risk stepping off, so had to go to Mornington and come back. Now why all this humbug? Then, again, there is the three-penny fare. It seems very unreasonable that the city residents should bo charged the same as to go all the way through. Why have different tickets? Why not have sections on this • particular line the same as the other lines? They all belong to the city. Why cannot one ticket do for all the lines? When this line belonged to I could quite understand the 3d fare. It was their tram, and if city people chose to use it they could. Tno same with the non-stop car at 12 o’clock. But now it is different. City people want to get home to lunch, too, and have a right to get off at their particular street.— I am, etc., I IlrsiDEkT. September 9.
