An anonymous correspondent from Charing Cross has written to Scotland Yard saying that ho caused the death of a man at llarrogate Hotel in 1914 by bluff (says the ‘Daily News’). Take your choice.” The victim made a selection, drank a glass of water containing a solution of the powder, and dropped dead. Both packets .contained chalk. Inquiries "at Harrogate confirm the details. A quantity of chalk was found on the victim's body. A post-mortem examination did not reveal an adequate cause of death.
