‘ THE HOUSE OF GLASS ’ TO-ftIQBBSW To-morrow night and next Monday tho Muriel Starr Company will present Max Mercia and Georgo M. Cohan’s sterling and powerful drama ‘The House of Glass,’ which has just had a most successful run of two vears in America and England. 1 The House of Glass ’ abounds in excellent and interesting incidents, and will afford theatregoers an opportunity of seeing what an exceptionally line company Miss Starr has surrounded herself with. Mr Harvey Adams, a sterling English actor, who has been playing .under J. C. Williamson, Ltd., banner for the last two years, will bo seen as Hugh M’Lollan, the genial lawyer friend of the family, who takes up tho cudgels and fights tho fate which threatens to envelop his frioiK#. Another member of the company is Mr Kenneth Brampton, whose name is familiar to Australian theatregoers. Miss Starr, who is now' in the zenith of her fame, will have excellent opportunities of displaying her talents a* an emotional actress as Margaret .Case, who is unjustly imprisoned for a crime she did not cnn,..,it. The box plan is now open at The Bristol Piano Company, and the season is limited to seven nights.* 1 The House of Glass ’ can only bo played to-morrow night and Monday nest. In ‘ The Goldfish,’ tho bright, comedy to bo presented next Tuesday and Wednesday' at His Majesty’s Theatre, Miss Muriel Starr plays the role of a young woman who embarks on a matrimonial Marathon. From being the. wife of a struggling young artist she marries in turn a wealthy, though rough-hewn, baron of business, and sho has become tho fiance of a British duke when she returns to her complaisant and now lamous .first husband. The play derives much of his humor from free employment of American cliches and colloquial phrases. Miss Starr gives a brightly humorous rendering of the part of the flighty lady of tho story, as docs Mr 1 Harvey Adams in the part of the foreign deportment teachrr. Mr Raymond Lawrence. Mr Charles Lawrence. Miss Bertha Balienger, and Mr Kenneth Brampton are well cast in their respective roles, and give adequate characterisations. On Thursday next Miss Starr will present ‘Madame X.,’ a play which is sure to bo popular with Dunedin theatre-goers. On Friday next the delightful comedy ‘ French Leave ’ will bo ibo attraction. For the last night of the season, Saturday, September 18. that cver-popular drama ‘ Within the Law ’ will bo tho farewell performance.
