Tho North-east Valley Progress League held its monthly meeting on Aloiulny. It was well attended, and good business was reported and carried out. The committee, hecan.se of the many activities of the secretary, elected a co-secretary to ensure the work being satisfactorily undertaken. Reports of the deputation to the council in re duplication of tramline from Calder’s loop to Nonnnnby were very satisfactory, the assurance being given that this much-needed improvement would be very seriously considered before the Main North road running through the Valley was asphalted, which work the council intends to put in hand in the near Future. In connection with works of this description the league recorded approval of the fact Unit the Antler.son’s Bay extension is being carried on out of revenue. In re playing grounds for children, tho league and school committee have merged their forces, and hope to shortly wait on tho Reserves Committee. An appeal to the league to assist some of the worst cases ot want of access through bad roads and footpaths was sympathetically received, and will be. attended to in due season. The league is determined to carry on a vigorous policy oi advancement iu a spirit of conciliation and goocl-iellow-ship with the council, and asks afl residents of tho YLilley to understand that it is a progress league pure and simple, with no time or wish for political propaganda.
