EXHIBITION BUILDINGS
OUESTION OF THEIR REMOVAL , A report dealing with the Exhibition buildings was considered at last night’s meeting of the City Council. The Jfinance Committee Lad under consideration the granting of the company an extension of time for the removal of the buildings, and the following report brought down by the Finance Committee was adopted .-—The letter of Juno 10 from the Exhibition Company regarding the question of the removal of buildings from Logan Park had been considered by the Reserves Committee and the Finance Committee in terms of instructions from last meeting of the council. The Exhibition Company asks, in effect, that the council take over from the company the making and carrying out or arrangements with the purchasers of buildings for clearing the ground. The committee is of the opinion that it would not be advisable for the council to take over these responsibilities from the Exhibition Company, but that the company might bo granted a further period of three months beyond the date of expiration of the company’s lease—i.e., October 31, 192(5, within which to comply with the terms of their tenancy, subject, however, to the following con-ditions—viz.-(a) That the buildings be taken down and removed in smh order as may bo stipulated by the lieserves Committee; (b) thft any building shall be removed within two months oAeceipt of notice from the Reserves Committee; (o) that in the event of the rate of demolition between now and January 31, 1927, proving satisfactory, an application from the company for a further extension of time for three months be favorably considered.
