AUCKLAND BEQUESTS

PUBLIC RESERVE DEEDED [Per United Peers Association.] AUCKLAND, June 11. The late Mr David Goldie, whose Jong life of service to the community was i brought to a close on Tuesday, lias I given the citizens of Auckland still 1 further cause to honor his memory by i bequeathing to them a splendid area, of I native bush in the Waitakorei Ranges, land making a number of handsome bei quests to public institutions in the city. | Tlie section of native bush, which Mr i Goldie bequeathed to the City of Auekj land to bo held as a public reserve, I has an area of ■175 acres. It is known ! as Goldie’s Bush, and is situated about i twenty-four miles from the city, and | about* lour miles from the Waitnkerei ; railway station. The area is covered I with beautiful hush, which contains line itotara and kauri trees 1 The following are additional bequests I made by Mr Goldie Blind Institute, j £1,000; Auckland Museum, £1,000; Raritan© Home, £500: the Salvation Army and St. Mary’s Home, Otahuhu, | £SOO each; Y.W.C.A., £500; Flying I Angel Mission, £250; \ .M.C.A., £250; ' Knox Homo for Incurables, £250; 1 Young Citizens’ League, £125; Boy . Scout organisation, £126. In addition there is a bequest to the Alexandra Street Methodist School of £5 annually for library hooks.
