The Speech from the Throne, read by the Primo Minister (Adly Pasha) was a masterpiece of ambiguity. It said that stops would be taken for the admission of Egypt to the League of Nations.—A, and N.Z. Cable. PEACEFUL INAUGURATION. CLAIMS TO SUDAN NOT ABANDONED. • CAIRO, June 11. (Received June 12, at 1.35 a.m.) The parliamentary inauguration was peaceful. The Speech from the Throne stated that the Government intends to enforce respect of , the Constitution and to safeguard the rights of foreigners, especially aiming at the re-estab-lishment of cordial Anglo-European relations. There was enthusiastic applause when it was announced that Egypt had not abandoned its claims to the Sudan.— Sydney ‘ Sun ’ Cable.
