FATAL ATTEMPT TO BOARD .BUS

AUCKLAND, Juno 10. While attempting to board a City Corporation motor bus in Mountain road, Auckland, last, evening, Richard Guttoridgo, an elderly man, fell into tho track of the, hack wheel, anti received injuries which proved fatal within a few minutes. A passenger in the bus stated to the driver that, after the vehicle commenced to move, she saw the deceased catch hold of the hand rail near the front. MOTOR FATALITIES. At the inquest at Wanganui concerning the death of Francis William Mitchell, aged siXty-six, pantryman, who was killed by a, motor truck, Albert Victor Chambers, driver of the truck, said he bent over to alter the mixture, and when he looked up the lorry was right on top of Mitchell. The evidence showed that Chambers and Mitchell had been friends for many years._ Mitchell generally rode into town with Chambers. Tho theory was that he was waiting in the middle of the road in expectation of the usual lift. A verdict of accidental death was returned. 'The adjourned inquest concerning the death of L. E. Wilton lasted all day at Pahiatua. Tho coroner returned a verdict that death was due to a collision between a motor cycle and a car, but (hero was no culpable negligence. Tho cycle was ridden by tho deceased, ami the driver of the ear was Arthur Hunt, a settler, of Koliinni. The collision occurred on a recent Saturday night on tho Mangnirmtu road. Wilton’s mother is a widow, who lost two sons in the Great War.
