BENEFIT CONCERT TONIGHT

This evening the directors tender a complimentary concert to the Argyll and Suthorlandcrs’ Band. For over five months now the band has delighted many thousands of Dunedin residents who regularly visit tho Exhibition with its wonderful concerts. It has become firmly established in the esteem and affection of tho public, and this concert offers to one and all the only opportunity Dunedin will have of demonstrating" in a practical manner its appreciation of the band’s magnificent services. For this reason, and also because a special feature programme will bo given, there should not be a single vacant seat in tho Festival Hall to-night. The programme will include Mr llickotls’s new work ‘Dunedin,’ dedicated to tho Exhibition, and descriptive of the memorable scenes on opening clay, and also his fantasia, ‘ For Service Overseas,’ composed during the war, which describes the scenes incidental to the departure, voyage, ailfi return home of British troops ordered abroad. Fourshilling day sale tickets will bo on sale at The Bristol this , morning, and the balance of these seats, if any, together with a limited number of 2s tickets, will ho sold at tho Festival Hall. Owing to the enormous hooking, patrons are requested to facilitate ushering by attending at the hall ns soon after the doors_ arc open as possible, and thus allowing tho concert to commence punctually at 8 o’clock.
