CAR REGISTRATIONS
INCREASE OF 25,000 [Special to thk ‘Star.’] CHRISTCHURCH, March 12. A total of 127,113 motor _ vehicles wore registered in the dominion on January 31 of this year, stated the Registrar of Motor Vehicles in a letter to the South Island Motor Union, which was read at last evening’s meeting of the union. The following table shows the number of vehicles in each island: — ’ ,_, , North Island. South Island. Cars in each „ „„ Island ... 51,520 82,633 Trucks . H,653 5,1f.0 Motor Cycles 14,624 11,488 Totals ... 77,827 49,286 Grand total, 127,113. The total shows an increase in registrations of approximately 25,000 cars during the past ten months.
