AURORA BOREALIS
INFLUENCE ON WIRELESS BROADCASTING INTERRUPTED. LONDON, January 28. The activity of the Aurora Borealis interfered with the broadcasting tests between Britain and America. It wjis the cause, also, of interruptions in cable services between Britain and Australia. The Aurora Borealis converted the Heaviside layer around the earth from a “ sounding-board ” into a “ wet blanket,” in which the ether waves were absorbed. The sun spots, the full moon, and shooting stars also exerted disturbing influences. Why these phenomena affect wireless waves is fvtill conjectural, and it is for experts to elucidate the matter.
