ANDERSON BAY PRESBYTERIANS

For the purpose of reducing the debt on their splendid new Sunday school the Anderson Bay Presbyterians held a sale of work in the new Sunday school hall (named “ Cameron Hall ” in Honor of the late Dr Cameron) on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of last week. The several stalls displayed a lino variety of goods, both useful and ornamental, and the colored lights and gay decorations of the stalls iuado the interior of the hall most attractive. In the unavoidable absence of Mrs John White, who was to have opened the sale, the minister of tho church (Rev. G H. Jupp), in a few appropriate words, declared the sale open. Tho stallholders were;— Work, Art, and Handkerchief.—Mrs J. R. Fair bairn. Cake. —Miss Jessie Wither. Produce. —Mrs W. Clarkson. Flower. —Mrs R. Nichol. Sweets. —Mrs James King and Miss L. Sim. Children’s.—Miss Ada Galhchan. Men’s.—Mr George Argus. Tea Rooms.—Mrs Austing. In the evening amusements and music made the time pass merrily. The Amusements Committee engineered such attractions as a shooting gallery, distorted mirrors, greasy pole, and Aunt Sally; even the old-time “ Punch and Judy” show was in evidence. Music was supplied by a quartet party from the St. Kilda Band and by an efficient orchestra under Mr Stuart Robertson. Tho whole proceedings were marked by a spirit of good-will and harmony that meant much to the promoters and their assistants. Good business was done at the stalls, and so successful was the sale that the debt on the Sunday school will be substantially reduced, the net result' being nearly £3(X).
