TRAPPED IN TUNNEL

Over forty workmen were trapped in a railway tunnel at Richmond (Virginia) when a cave-in occurred, hut mnnv crawled to safety and were taken to hospital to have their injuries dressed. The railway officials stated Ibis evening that it was believed that not more than eight remained in the tunnel.'— Reuter. RESCUE WORK RETARDED. A SECOND CAVE-IN. NEW YORK, October 3. (Roceriod October !>, at 9.40 a.m.) A telegram from Richmond, Virginia, states that the work of clearing tiie, tunnel in which throe men (possibly now dead) are entombed, was greatly retarded on Saturday night by a second cave-in. Most of those eutiapped succeeded in digging their way out. though many were injured, one fatally.—Reuter.
