THE COMPETITIONS

SECOND DEMONSTRATION CONCERT, The second demonstration concert in connection with the Dunedin Competition Society’s festival attracted a large audience to His Majesty’s Theatre last evening. The programme, which comprised about forty items, was of a particularly attractive nature, two of the more popular contributions being given by the Kaikorai School Choir and the Orpheus Choir. _ The following programme was given:— l Cobwebs ’ and ‘ May Morning,’ Kaikorai School Choir; piano duet, ‘Chanson Bretonne,’ Mbs a Ailsa Hanning and Master S. L. Gorrie; Highland fling, Miss Edna Agnow; bass solo, ‘ The Drums of Life,’ Mr W. A. Hilliker; ballet dance, Miss V. Lamb; children’s duet, ‘ Our Farm,’ _ Misses Ivy Asher and E. Docherty; recitation, ‘ Together,’ Mr A. R. Wilson; operatic solo, ‘ Prologue, Pagliacci,’ Mr W. Mitchell ; recitation, Miss Kitty Eckhoff; piano solo, ‘Ariel,’ Miss B. Rawiinson: sacred baritone solo, ‘ I Come to Thee,’ Mr L. H. Stubbs; dance duo, Miss Griffiths and Mr Bruce Warden; vocal duet, ‘ Song of the Sword,’ Messrs W. Mitchell and A. Perry; sacred tenor solo, ‘ He Knows the Way,’ Mr W. L. Newbury._ Piper Budge provided the accompaniments for the Highland dancing. TO-NIGHT’S PROGRAMME. The 1925 festival of the above society will bo brought to a close this evening at His Majesty’s Theatre, when the most attractive programme of the season will be presented, including the choir contest by St. Joseph’s Choir, male choir by the Leech Lyric Club Choir; combined ballet; piano duo, eight hands; and many or the most attractive items of the competitions. The programme is an exceedingly interesting and varied one, and a packed house is assured.
