RAILWAY INQUIRY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir _Tho subject matter of the Napier railway inquiry is technical to a degree, yet tho Board of Inquiry is composed of one export (Mr Marchbanks) and two non-experts. Why not the other way about? It is strange not to find on tho board such available experts as Mr M'Villy, the late general manager, or Mr Maclean, the late chief engineer; more strange still to find instead a representative of the man in tho street. What can ho be expected to know? The Government is not usually so shy of exports; why so now? —1 am, etc., Safety First. October 2.
