SHIPWRECK RELIEF
SOCIETY’S QUARTERLY MEETING Mr C. W. Ciiamberlain (chairman), Messrs F. O. Bridgoman, G. L. Donniston, Jas. APinto.sh, and !). E. Thcomin attended yesterday’s meeting of the Shipwreck Belief Society. Tho Governor-General’s Private Secretary wrote stating that Mis Excellency had accepted t he posh ion of patron. Tho Prime Minister (the Hon. J. G. Coates) wrote accepting office as a vicepatron, ami enclosed £1 Is as a donation. Tho Private Secretary of the Attor-ney-General advised that tho Hon. Sir Francis Bell would accept office as a vice-patron. Mr J. A. Cook wrote accepting tho office of honorary solicitor. Air W. A. Koanedy, the society’s Wellington representative, reported that he was attending to the relief of tho wrecked Orini’s crow, having advanced £3O to the grateful men, A letter received from Mr Taylor, St. Peter’s Mission, Wellington, referred to relief to Mr W. F. Farrant, solo survivor of the steamer Tainui, which caught lire and was wrecked in 1919.—The secretary was instructed to asking Air Taylor to confer with Air Kennedy, and for the latter to reply to tho association. Captain Atwood (Auckland) notified that he had authorised tho pavmont ol £5 towards replacing the effects lost by Mr Little as a result of the collision of the steamship Wainui with the fishing launch Iris Eileen in tho Hauraki Gulf. The balance-sheet showed that £O7O 15s 3d had been received since April. It was decided that £SOO bo invested in City Corporation debentures. The following officers were rc-clectod: —Chairman, Air Chamberlain; treasurer, Air G. L. Denniston; secretary, Air E. S. Wilson.
