ART UNIONS

FAR TOO NUMEROUS , [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 20. Replying to a deputation winch asked permission to conduct an art union in the interests of a sports body, the Minister of Internal Affairs said that art unions were getting beyond bounds. He ha dconsulted the Crown Law Office and had decided that in all future cases the value of the gold to be raffled must nqt exceed £SOO. This should tend to eliminate the growing tendency to let art unions grow beyond what the Legislature contemplated. They were far too numerous, and ho was surprised in some cases at the amount of running expenses.
