BURNS CLUB

The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Burns Club was held last evening in the Early Settlers’ Hall. The president (Mr W. Nicolsbn) occupied the chair. The Chairman referred to the deaths of Mr F. Arthur and Mr J. Davidson. The latter had .been a valued member of the choir. Death and removals had reduced the membership of the choir, and Mr Nicolson requested auy males (tenors especially) to come forward and keep the choir up to a high standard. He also expressed great pleasure at seeing so many naval men present. Tho musical programme was of the usual high order. Piper T. Munro gave a bagpipe selection, and the choir saim several part songs. Mr T. Baclinp sang ‘ The Nameless Lassie,’ Mr G. Nichol * Bonnie Dundee,’ Mr J. D. M'Kechnie ‘ Where Hath Scotland Found Her Fame?’ Miss Flora Williamson ‘ Hurrah for the Highlands,’ and Mr J. Paterson ‘Piper M‘Farlano.’ Recitations were given by Miss Smeaton and Miss Winnie Hunter, while dances wore provided by Miss M. Sutherland and Miss Carter. At the conclusion of the concert the usual dance was held. The accompaniments were played by Miss B. Wright.
