MARRIED AT SIXTEEN
FATHER OF SIX CHILDREN. Married at the age of sixteen, William Waring, now aged twenty-four, and an unemployed motor mechanic, gave evidence recently at the inquest at Lewisham, England, on the youngest of his family of six, a girl eleven months old. The family, according to a relieving officer, had been under the Poor Law since May, 1919, and, apart from medical orders, had been paid over £llß in relief. The father was drawing 25s labor benefit and 10s from the Guardians. Tho home conditions were almost indescribable. Medical evidence was that the child’s death was caused by meningitis and gastric enteritis. Returning a verdict of death from natural causes, the coroner commented on tho “awful conditions”- under .which that family
