OUR AMERICAN VISITORS.
TO THK KDVJ'OB. Sir, —I would like to make a strong appeal through your columns on behalf of the lads of the American fleet at present in Dunedin. The officers are receiving every attention,, but owing to the numbers of the rank and file they are finding their stay here very dull, and the rough weather wo are experiencing iff making their visit anviliing but pleasant. 1 would suggest that all the citizens who can should ask a few of the lads to their homes to spend the evening, and lot them experience the pleasure of a home life, for I know that they will appreciate it, and the. pleasure thus given will more than compensate for any little trouble that the householder may be put to. They are easily entertained, and most of them, if approached in the street, will gladly accept any such invitation extended to them.—T am, etc., Akoio. August. 1,4.
