ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
MAIL CAR SMASH. The Christchurch-Akaroa. mail car wont over a hank on the Akaroa read beyond Little River yesterday morning. The driver and four passengers are suffering from minor injuries. The car in rued over several times, and was considerably damaged. The mishap was due to the steering column and cross rods coining adrift. EX-SCHOOLMASTER INJURED. An ox-schoolmaster named Henry Raynor was knocked down bv a motor car in the main street of Hamilton. The injuries sustained are not serious. LORRY BAMS SHELTER SHED. A LADY KILLED. The death occurred in the Auckland Hospital last night of Mrs Mary Mackenzie, aged thirty-seven, a visit >r from Tangowahino, as the result of a motor accident at Onehunga in the afternoon. Mrs Mackorwia, with her daughter Jean, aged seven, was about to leave the tramway .shelter to board a traincur, when a motor truck, attempting to turn, skidded on the wet road, and crashed heavily into the shelter shed. Mrs Mackenzie suffered a. compound fracture of the thigh, death ensuing after an operation. Her daughter was badly bruised. Others present in the shelter escaped. The .shelter itself was considerably damaged. A FARMER KILLED. Alfred Jones, a fanner at Rokuni, was killed la.st night. He was proceeding home, by car from To Awaited n, and had evidently got out to crank Ihe engine, which was left in gear. The vehicle moved forward, pinning him to the ground and suffocating him. The body was found this morning below the ear by a roadman. Deceased leaves a widow and seven children, Ho was widely known throughout ilte Waikato.—Te Awamutu Press Association telegram.
