CONTROL OF PRICES GOVERNMENT ACTION THREATENED (FjKOlt OUB PARUiaiBSTABY REPORTER,J WELLINGTON, August PL A hint is given in the Stores Control Board’s report that trusts and combines in restraint of trade, jf any be proved to exist, may expect no encouragement from the Government. It has come to tho knowledge of tho board that attempts (says the report) have been made to establish trade combinations for the purpose of controlling prices. Such attempts, if successful, would necessitate action to protect the interests of the public. Tho board trusts that manufacturers will themselves use every effort to discountenance a system which, if established, would render difficult the maintenance of the policy the Government desires to continue.
