Mr A. C. Aitkcn, M.A., who left Dunedin two years ago to pursue postgraduate research in mathematics at the University of Edinburgh, _ lias gained the degree of Doctor of Science. Mr C .0. Trownson, Assistant Suh’collector of Customs at this port, has been appointed Customs officer in charge at the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition. Mr G. P. Johnston, of Waikaka Valley, arrived from the south this morning, and went on to Wellington. Mr M. O’Brien, of went north this morning, bound for Wellington.
