THE DOMINION ONION A meeting of the Council of the Do* minion Union of the League of Nations Union was held this week, Dr G. E. Thompson presiding. It was reported that the executive of the union had so far been constituted as follows;—Patron, Sir F. Dillon Bell; vice-presidents-Lady Fergussson, Mrs K. Evans (Wellington), the Hon. J. G. Coates. Mr T. M. Wilford, Mr H. E. Holland, Mr Frank Milner (Oamaru), the Rev. Dr Gibb (Wellington), the Rev. J, K. Archer (Mayor of Christchurch), the Rev. C. J. Tockor (Auckland), and Mr H. Valder (Hamilton); council (of seven members) —Dr G. E. Thompson, Dr R. Lawson, Dr A. G. B. Fisher, Mr Ernest Rosevear, Mr F. Jones, Mr A. Fels, and'Mrs Hannan; hon. treasurer, Mr J. Greenfield, F.A.N.Z.; hon. secretary, Mrs Leech. The Prime Minister wrote as follows in answer to the invitation that ho should accept the office of vice-presi-dent I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter informing me of the proposal to elect me as a vice-pre-sident of the Dominion League of Nations Union in New Zealand. I greatly appreciate the honor done me in this respect, and have much pleasure in accepting the office. May I say that I am in full sympathy with the aims and objects of the union, and I take this opportunity of extending my best wishes for the future progress and welfare of the organisation in New Zealand.” The office of president has not yet been filled. • The Hon. Secretary reported that an able organiser and lecturer had been appointed by the conference, and had started work in Auckland. Certain instructions were given. The Dunedin Council bad recently sent a memorial to Ministers and to M.P.s praying that the New Zealand Government be fully represented al the next assembly of the League of Nations at Geneva. The Wellington secretary wrote offering to approach the Government by deputation. This offer was received and accepted by the Dominion Union. The hon. secretary was instructed to obtain literature for propaganda and to supply the. organiser.
