A Hamilton Press Association telegram reports that Mr J. I. Fox, of Eeiiding, organiser of the .Dairy Farmers’ union, has issued a writ against Mr W. Goodfellow, of Hamilton, claiming £5,000 damages in connection with statements alleged to have been made. The question of the color of the drosses to be worn by female members of the Exhibition Choir was mentioned at last night’s meeting of the Exhibition directors. It appeared from the discussion that there was a marked difference of opinion amongst the members of the choir, some favoring black dresses and some having a preference for white. After some discussion, in the course of which Mr Hainsworth stated that he had never seen a choir, of such a size as the Dunedin one would be, dressed in anything but white, it was decided to leave the matter to the general manager, who was deputed to get an expression of opinion from the ladies concerned. Isitt not. to vote against the Massey Government if the Liberal Party had to rely upon the support of extreme Labor. Mr Flesher has not previously contested a parliaments y election. It is probable that other names may hr submitted to the ballot. —Our Christchurch correspondent. " Our Cromwell correspondent wires: —There was a sudden change in the weather late yesterday. It was no surprise this morning to find the mountains carrying a heavy deposit of snow. At present the fall on the mountains cannot bo definitely estimated. The good weather that usually accompanies all student activities did not hold last night for the capping ball, and was instrumental m spoiling what might otherwise have been an enjoyable function. Internal preparations (or lack of them) necessitated a long wait outside the Art Gallery by the public before the doors were opened at 11 o’clock; but this was nothing to the inconvenience caused at supper time by the usual awning connecting the entrances to the Early Settlers’ Hall and the Art Gallery not being-,in evidence. As a result the journey between the halls had to be made m heavy rain, and this, coupled with a delay at the entrance, caused many pretty dresses to be ruined, and most of the dancers to receive a rather severe wotting.
