The ‘Daily Chronicle,’ commenting on a message from Hongkong reporting the gallantry of Warrant Shipwright Robert Cargin, of the cruiser Brisbane, and Scoutmaster Hugh Braga in rescuing a Chinese girl aged thirteen from the collapsed houses, says that the Brisbane is si cruiser the recall of which some Australian politicians have loudly demanded, on the ground that Australian ships had no business to bo demonstrating in Chinese, waters at a time of political upheaval. —A. and N.Z. [A message from Hongkong on Monday stated that, following heavy rains, a number of houses jn the western part of the city wore wrecked by landslides. Forty-three bodies wore recovered.J
