Fire Brigade Superintendent Napier's report, submitted at yesterday’s meeting of the Dunedin Fire Board stated that twenty-one calls had been received during June. The Dunedin Advisory Committee of the Pearson fund held its monthly mooting at the Town Hall yesterday. The mayor (Mr H. L. Taplev) occupied the chair. There were also present Mesdame# King and Jackson, and Mvssr- Jas. Brown. Nees, King, and Drew. The first case dealt with was one in which surgical treatment had been given' a blind man, the patient being present in person. Mr Drew said that he had advised this man to proceed with the operation. Dio action was confirmed, the Auckland committee being recommended to pay the expenses. It was reported that bedding to the value, of £2O, and < lothing to the value of £lO, had been provided for two families, a request for similar assistance from the country being recommended. The committee approved of two cases involving £2OO each for setting two men up in business.
